Alexander Gail assumes Professorship in Göttingen

The W2 professorship Sensorimotor Neurosciences and Neuroprosthetics that Alexander Gail (BCCN, BFNT and DPZ Göttingen) assumed on July 11, 2012, is shared between the University of Goettingen and the German Primate Center (DPZ) (July 2012).

In 1997, Alexander Gail graduated in physics at the University of Marburg. Until 2003, he worked there in the field of neurophysics and invesitgated the dynamics of cognitive representations, which was also the subject of his dissertation. He then continued his research in the Department of Biology at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, USA. In 2006, he returned to Germany as head of the sensomotor research group at DPZ. The research group as well as the current professorship were created within the framework of the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Göttingen and will remain part of the Department of Cognitive Neuroscience at the DPZ.
